In 1966, I was sixteen years old. At school we were all asked to fill out a form stating what we thought we might like to do after we graduated from high school. While most of the men said they would like to be doctors or accountants, most of the women said they wanted to be nurses or teachers. I think I fell into a category of my own. I am the only one who responded with “I want to be a Playboy Bunny.”
I grew up in foster homes and a Children’s home. During my childhood and even into my teens, I never really felt loved. I had the impression that if I were a Playboy Bunny that I would be seen as beautiful and glamorous. I thought if I were a Playboy Bunny, then I would surely be loved.
In 1973, I was a single twenty-two year old living in New York City. At the time I was working as a secretary for a major record company, Atlantic Records. As much as I loved the job, I was starting to get bored and felt that it was time for a change. I was getting some small jobs as a model and even had a few auditions as an actress. Since I was working a nine to five job, it made it very difficult to be available to go on auditions. When I mentioned this to a few of my friends, one suggested that I try to get a job as a Bunny at the Playboy Club. I could work nights and be available for auditions during the day. This comment was really meant as a joke since I am small breasted and the likelihood of me getting hired was minimal.
Not being one to back down from a dare or a challenge, I decided that I would go and see if I could actually get a job as a Playboy Bunny. Of course, I wasn’t about to tell anyone. I figured that if I didn’t get the job, no one would know, so what did I have to lose. I called the club to find out the specifics of the interviews. I just had to show up between 2 and 4, fill out an application and be interviewed. Sounded easy.
When I got there I entered the room, gave someone my name and got an application to fill out. There were at least fifteen other girls waiting ahead of me to be seen. It felt more like an acting audition. They were all attractive and most were well endowed. As each one of the girls came out of their interview, they would tell their friends that the club wasn’t hiring right now but were going to keep their names on file. I really felt like I was wasting my time but since I was already there, I decided to wait.
It was finally my turn. I went in and was introduced to Jadee, the Bunny Mother. We chatted for awhile and then she told me that she was sending me to wardrobe to have me try on a Bunny costume. ” What! I thought you weren’t hiring?” I said. “That’s what we tell the girls who are not Bunny material.” she replied. “But what about my small breasts?” I asked. Nothing like pointing out ones flaws at an interview. She told me that a Bunny needed to have a pretty face, nice skin, hair and teeth and a good butt and legs, the rest could be enhanced.
I was then sent to wardrobe and put into a Bunny costume. Amazing what one of those costumes can do for a body. I was then taken upstairs where I met the General Manager, who had the final say. He congratulated me and welcomed me to the world of Playboy.
After two weeks of training. I was officially working as a Playboy Bunny. I worked at the New York Club for about six months. It was an experience that college could not have given me and it also trained me for my future jobs as a cocktail waitress.
My name is Billie. I feel qualified to write about this topic because I did not go to college and have had more than 20 different careers and over 225 different jobs. I get bored easily and prefer to move on rather than stay in a dead-end job that I hate. If you have an adventurous spirit, then there are many, many careers or jobs out there that are available for the taking. On this site I am going to tell you about some of my experiences and also inform you about some of the opportunities that are available for you to consider. You’ll be amazed at the many opportunities awaiting you, even if you don’t have a college education.
I Want to be a playboy bunny. i am only 16 and i live in britain. i have no idea how i am supposed to get into the bunny world. or where i am ment to go ? your story is very inspiring
Hannah,
Live your dream. Unfortunately, the only Playboy Club still in existence is in Las Vegas and may not even be there when you turn 21.Keep it in the back of your mind but pursue other options. There are so many fun, rewarding things out there to do that you should be building a list. When you turn 21 you can once again see if that is what you still want to do and if it is still available. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Just be happy, nothing else matters.
Billie
I also would like to become a playboy bunny… I am 18-year-old and unfortunately I live in small country in Europe… And I don’t think that it is impossible to get this place even if I went into audition. And where you can get those applications? And yes this story is really inspiring. I think this job is perfect for those women who seek many life experience and non-routine job, and like fending for oneself… And always want to be beautiful.
Greta,
I have no doubt that you would make a beautiful Playboy Bunny. The only available club right now is in Las Vegas at the Palms. You can find more info online about requirements. Good luck with your dreams. I hope they come true for you.
Billie
I’m dreaming to become a playboy bunny, but my 32A breast size keep me unconfident… but know, I’m gonna shine like never before, I’m gonna audition when I grow up, and if I’m still what they’re not looking for, I’ll go on with my other goals, but at least I can say that I tried. Imma do my very best!! thank you so much for sharing this
Katie,
When I interviewed with the Playboy Club I was also small breasted and I was hired, so don’t give up. You will never know if you can get the job if you don’t try.
Good Luck,
Billie
I want to be a playboy bunny when I grow up but I am afraid that I won’t get in. I am a bit over-weight and I’m afraid strech marks won’t convince them to pick me. I think it’s a good life and I have other options open but I kind of would like to be a bunny.
Thank you for your time,
T
Trixie,
You said that you want to be a Playboy Bunny when you grow up but you didn’t say how old you were. If you are not grown up yet, then you still have time to lose those few unwanted pounds and get into great shape in time to try out for the job. Don’t worry too much about the stretch marks. They may disappear when you have lost the weight. Remember, the costume does cover some of the body like the tummy. You never know unless you try.
Good luck,
Billie
Hi Billie , I liked your story very much , I’ve always loves playboy bunny’s , My 16′ birthday party theme was ployboy/ moulin rouge hihi.. I’m turning 18 soon and I still like the idea of being an Bunny , but im from the Netherlands , Do you think that I can be one of them

KInd regards Ivana from the Netherlands.
Ivana,
I have heard recently that they are thinking about opening some new Playboy clubs. I am not sure where they will be located but keep your ears and eyes open and you may still get to be a Playboy Bunny. If this doesn’t work out, there are many clubs out there where the girls get to wear great little costumes to show off their assets! Thanks for visiting my blog and I am glad that you enjoyed reading it.
Good Luck, Billie
Hey there,
I have had the dream of becoming a bunny for many many years im 16, really skinny and my bra size is 36 c. I live in a really small town in Georgia which is in the middle of nowhere so noone ever makes it around here but I would like to ask you where they hold tryouts
Isabella,
The only Playboy Club at this time is in Las Vegas. You would have to go there for an interview.
Good Luck,
Billie
I have an interview at the new playboy casino that will be opening in London and was wondering what I should wear? What does the playboy brand mean to you? I’m 34.
Sharon,
The Playboy brand is generally thought of as a “Classy and Upscale” type of entertainment. I would suggest that you dress the part. No mini skirts or boobs hanging out. They won’t be looking for the slutty or trampy type of woman. They’ll want to see beauty and class. Think high powered, successful business woman. If you want to wear slacks or jeans try to look as upscale as possible. Don’t go the trashy route. If they like you they will put you in costume to see all of your womanly assets. Good luck and let me know the outcome.
Billie
Hi, I was a Bunny at the NY club, starting in August 1972. I was inteviewed by Jadee, dressed by Betty and hired by Mr. Staub. I was transferred to Jamaica in the Spring of 1973 and stayed there until 1974. I returned to the New York club in the summer of 1974. However with Jadee, Mr. Staub, Betty and John Indrieri gone, the place was not the same. I had a wonderful time in Jamaica, my Bunny Mother Helene became one of my best friends. I am still friends with a few of the girls from by Bunny Days! I loved the atmosphere, and the income.
Dear Former Bunny,
Thanks for reading and responding. I recognize all of those names and it brings back some wonderful memories. It’s very possible that we worked together for a very brief time since I started there in the spring of 1973. Small world, isn’t it?
Billie
Former Bunny, you were loved when u were 16 yrs by me!! (Toni Still). I don’t remember how I got to this site but I knew it was u when I read the post. If u read this take a sec and go to facebook. Apparently neither one of us has changed much. Only few friends. I knew u would always do something special. U were special at Olney. We used to be bff.
It’s me again I got a job w/o college too remember pregnant and married!!!!

Toni,
I hope Former Bunny reads your response. I’m happy to be able to put friends back in touch again.
Billie
Billie, thanks for the post, specially since I am not anywhere near playboy bunny!! I hope Former Bunny answers me also. She was the best of two friends in high school. Former Bunny was so different from everybody else. She was always light yrs ahead of her time. As I think back she was kind of a private person but I LOVED her spirit. Thanks again wish me luck.
Toni
Toni,
If you don’t hear from Former Bunny within a week, let me know and I will contact her with your message. I prefer not to give out e-mail addresses of people who respond on my site. I hope you understand.
Billie
Billie
Thank you much. I really appreciate ur help and of course I understand privacy etiquette.
Thanks again!!!
Toni
Hi Billie,
Small world indeed. I remember Toni Still with the fondest of memories. I thought of her sister the wonderful dancer a few weeks ago. We were in ballet class together. Toni Still was a class act in high school. I am on Facebook and will contact you this evening. I am at work now. TTYL How exciting!!!!
Hi Billie!
I love the Bunny Sisterhood. It was a pleasure to be in the company of confident, beautiful women. Thank you for keeping the Spirit alive. Please give Toni my email. What an amazing development. Thank you!
Former Bunny,
I’ll be happy to pass along your address to Toni. I’m glad you both found my blog and were able to connect up with each other. Keep in touch.
Billie
Billie,
U did it!!!! Thank you so much. We haven’t seen or spoken in about 40 yrs. This is the best birthday present (New decade last wk).
I have a jobs without college story. After my son was about 3 yrs old. Got a temporary job with a feminist organization which turned into full time counseling/advocacy position. Worked with some amazing women there. I learned so many things from them. I actually remember a time when my ex husband and my mother were whispering about how much I was changing. It was the sisterhood helping me grow. Stayed there for about 13yrs. Got a position In New Orleans (same field). It was supposed to be marketing for three offices on the Gulf Coast. Sounded great!!!! Turned out to be quite a challenge they certainly were not feminist and I didn’t really get to do job I was hired for. Had a blast in NOLA tho. Stayed in NOLA for almost 10 yrs.
I do regret not furthering my formal education sometimes but feel like my life experiences have been more than adequate. Got thru this life just fine a few bumps along the road but still thriving.
My story is not as exciting as Former Bunny, and I would urge all kids to do the college thing, but apparently lots of us did more than just fine!!!! Love my life.
Billie, thank you again so much. I feel like singing!
Toni
Toni.
I don’t regret not going to college back then because I would have probably gotten a job and stayed with it for many years (not that that would have been a bad thing) but I would not have experienced all of the different careers and jobs that I experienced.
I’m so glad that I could help you reconnect with Former Bunny. Consider it a birthday present from a woman who put up a website hoping that at least one person would read it and benefit from it. I’m also happy that you shared your story. You are right about one thing. I think today that a college education is the first thing that employers look at. Fortunately, when we were younger, we had more options. Actually, the men were just happy that they finally got the women to go to work
I’m happy you love your life. Keep Singing.
Hugs,
Billie
i really want to be a play boy bunny, i always have. my problem is that i have a very athletic build though i have c38 boobs. i barely havr a butt and very muscular legs. i’m from a really small town and so i grew up working on a farm and riding dirtbikes all my life. i do enjoy pampering myself though. do you think i could be a bunny. or that i’m just another small town hick..
cassandra lynn
Cassandra,
There is no such thing as a small town hick. It is just a state of mind. I grew up in an orphanage, which was on a small farm in Pennsylvania. My chances of becoming a bunny were slim, so I thought. But I did it. I have small boobs and thought that they would not consider me but I was wrong. You never know exactly what they are looking for. If this is your dream, I say go for it. You’ll never know unless you try.
Good Luck,
Billie
Hi! I think being a playboy bunny would be really fun. I love wearing makeup and having my hair done and feeling glamorous. I’m short and skinny as a twig and lots of people tell me I look like a little doll. I’m not sure about my breast size but I’m hopeful cause you said that could be fixed. I live in a really tiny town but I hope that when I graduate I can move closer la Vegas because I do not live to far away. It’s really hard to find information on the requirem
Jenna,
If this is your dream, then I say, “Go for it!” By the time you graduate you may fill out a little. When I said that being small breasted could be fixed, I was referring to pushup bras and padding, NOT breast augmentation. When you graduate then you can research it on the internet to see what your next step is.
Good Luck,
Billie
